We welcome you to the IUPUI Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion website!
Building diversity—broadly defined—within the IUPUI community and ensuring fairness for all in the hiring and promotion process are challenges for all of higher education. The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion believes that an institution of IUPUI's caliber should reflect the multiracial, pluralistic democracy of our country.
To help ensure that our commitment to diversity remains among our highest priorities, and to sustain the focused effort needed to attract and retain the best faculty, students, and staff, the university has established the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The university leadership and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion directs, supports, and monitors the university's progress in diversifying our faculty, our student body, and our staff, in creating a climate that is welcoming of all individuals regardless of race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or disability. We continually endeavor to facilitate, build, and create interaction, understanding, and dialogue between our diverse cultures to achieve increased inclusive community. Our collective goal is to instill diversity into our institution's consciousness; reinforce it with equity and excellence through our policies, practices and programs; and prepare all members of the community for a multicultural world.
IUPUI commits itself to diversity as it relates to awareness, education, and practice at every level of the organization. Our core values are strengthened when all members of our community have a voice and representation. We believe that a diverse campus community enriches the educational and scholarly environment by bringing varied interests, experiences, and perspectives to the teaching, learning, and creative activities that constitute our core mission. The resulting inclusive organizational climate promotes the development of broad-minded members of our university who positively influence their local and global communities. In essence, new ideas and concepts that flow from diversity are vital to our quest of being considered a premiere top-tier world-class institution.
