In the Fall of 2017 Karina took on the role of DACA point person for the IUPUI Campus. In 2018 this role expanded to include the IUFW campus. As the DACA point person Karina serve as the primary point of contact for DACA students and Undocumented student. She provides information on available resources and services, coordinate workshops, presentations and trainings for faculty, staff and students regarding DACA and the challenges that DACA/Undocumented Students may face, and serves the university system wide DACA committee to review legislative changes affecting DACA students.
Prior to joining the Multicultural Center, Karina served as the Coordinator for Social Justice Education in the Office of Student Involvement. While in her coordinator role Karina helped to develop the major programming for Social Justice Education through events such as IUPUI’s cultural heritage month programming, cultural dinners, and the social justice education workshop series. Before coming to IUPUI, she taught high school in the Indianapolis area for five year. Karina is a proud alumna of Indiana University- Bloomington. In 2005 she received her B.S. in Secondary Spanish Education from IUB and in 2013 she received her M.S. in Higher Education Student Affairs.
