Sylvia Thomas

Ambassador

Campus:
IUPUI

Sylvia Thomas is a senior in the school of Liberal Arts studying U.S. History. with a minor in Communication studies. Sylvia identifies as transgender and transitioned throughout her sophomore year as an undergraduate. She has experience coming out to staff, faculty, and other students as she is very expressive about her identities. She has been involved with on-campus opportunities, such as the Multicultural Leadership Empowerment Program, Social Justice Scholars, Freedom Rides, Women Mentoring Women Program, and the LGBTQ+ Student Alliance, Sylvia was also a recipient of the 2017 Indy Pride Scholarship for being an LGBTQ+ student dedicated to her studies and work with the community. As a senior, Sylvia has become familiar of the many offices on campus, faculty, staff, students, and Indianapolis community partners that are allies and support LGBTQ+ people. She is open to questions about transitioning and identity, helping students get involved, and your Netflix recommendations.
