Celebrating that #WeAreIUPUI
Each year, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at IUPUI and in Indiana at the Indy Pride Festival.
This year's Indy Pride celebration is quickly approaching, and we are so excited to participate in the parade and festival again this year. If you are interested in walking in the parade and/or volunteering to staff the booth, please signup.
We are proud to walk in the Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade, which is named after Gary Brackett's drag persona. Mr. Brackett was the president of Indy Pride Inc. and has worked for decades with The Bag Ladies - the first HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in the USA. As a former IUPUI employee and a huge contributor to the IUPUI LGBTQ+ community, we are proud to call Mr. Brackett family. Read more about his story here.
Friends, families, chosen families, partners, spouses, children - all are welcome to walk with us in the parade!
We are also excited to have a booth at the Indy Pride Festival where you can learn about becoming a student, working at IUPUI, getting involved as an alumnus and more. You can also learn about LGBTQ+ resources at IUPUI and get more information about our LGBTQ+ organizations on campus.
