Many who identify as Latin@ revere Cesar Chávez as a true hero and advocate for historically marginalized populations, especially when it comes to the labor movement. César Chávez’ commitment to justice and human dignity has led to equal rights for migrant workers and still inspires the Latin@ community today. Since 2008, IUPUI faculty, students, and staff have celebrated the life and work of César Chávez. The César Chávez Celebration Dinner provides an opportunity to support those who aspire to be leaders for the Latin@ community. The Latino Student Association presents awards to outstanding faculty and students at the dinner.
The IUPUI Latino Student Association (LSA) is hosting the 12th Annual César Chávez Celebration Dinner and your attendance will be an essential part of this year’s success. We cordially invite you to join us for an evening of cultural awareness and an opportunity to network with organizations and individuals involved in the Latin@ community. César Chávez’ commitment to justice and human dignity has led to equal rights for migrant workers and continues to inspire the Latin@ community today. The César Chávez Celebration Dinner provides an opportunity to support those who aspire to be leaders for the Latin@ community.
This year’s dinner will be held on Saturday March 30th at the Indiana Convention Center, (100 S. Capitol Ave), in Wabash Ballrooms 1 thru 3. Doors will open at 5:30 pm with the program beginning promptly at 6:00 pm.

We are excited to announce that this year's keynote speaker will be Ana María Archila! Ana María emigrated to the U.S. from Colombia at the age of 17 and has become a leading voice for racial justice, economic justice and immigrant rights in New York and nationally, first as co-Executive Director of Make the Road New York (MRNY), and now as co-Executive Director of the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD). During Ana María's 13 years at MRNY and its predecessor organization, the Latin American Integration Center, Ana Maria helped build the organization into a powerful force for change in New York and nationally. In 2014, Ana María stepped into a new role as Co-Executive Director at the Center for Popular Democracy, and helped build it into one of the largest community organizing networks in the country, with 45 affiliate organizations in 32 states. We are excited to have her join us for this event!
