Many who identify as Latin@ revere Cesar Chávez as a true hero and advocate for historically marginalized populations, especially when it comes to the labor movement. César Chávez’ commitment to justice and human dignity has led to equal rights for migrant workers and still inspires the Latin@ community today. The César Chávez Celebration Dinner provides an opportunity to support those who aspire to be leaders for the Latin@ community.
Since 2008, IUPUI faculty, students, and staff have celebrated the life and work of César Chávez. A dinner and a service activity are held in honor of Chávez, a civil rights activist who advocated for workers' rights. The Latino Student Association presents awards to outstanding faculty and students at the dinner. This year the IUPUI Latino Student Association (LSA) is hosting the 10th Annual César Chávez Celebration Dinner on Friday, March 25, 2017 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis with keynote speaker Rosa Clemente. Doors open at 6:00pm with the program beginning promptly at 6:30pm.
