In wake of the deaths of Dreasjon Reed, George Floyd, Breona Taylor and many other Black and Brown men, women, and children of color, the loud unrelenting cry of civil unrest has swept over Indianapolis and the world. Similarly, the disproportioned spread of COVID-19 among African Americans, food deserts and food insecurities in Black neighborhoods, the impact of voter suppression and the 13th amendment on Black citizens, and misconceptions of the role of mental health services for Black people further illuminates the racial inequities and disparities suffered in communities of color.
In response to these concerns, The IUPUI Black Faculty & Staff Council is honored to present the webinar series, "Where Do We Go From Here?"
Through several powerful discussions, you will have an opportunity to hear from local representatives and city official on matters specific to the Black community. Registration for the next discussion, Voting and Social Activism, scheduled for September 22, 2020 at 11:30am is now open. Panelists in this discussion will address voter rights, absentee ballots, early voting procedures, polling sites, and how you can be part of the change you want to see.
We hope you'll participate in one or more of these necessary conversations!
